Dangote Refinery Sets Daily Output Target of 50 Million Litres of Petrol

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has pledged to begin delivering 50 million litres of petrol daily to Nigeria’s domestic market starting today, December 1, 2025.

According to a letter signed by the refinery’s Chief Executive Officer, David Bird, the company plans to supply 1.5 billion litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) throughout December — equivalent to that 50 million-litre daily volume.

Moreover, the refinery expects to raise output further: by February 2026, production is slated to increase to 1.7 billion litres per month — roughly 57 million litres per day.

To ensure transparency and build confidence in the petroleum market, Dangote Refinery has requested that the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) deploy officials onsite starting today to verify and publicly publish daily production and stock levels.

The commitment comes amid long-standing concerns over fuel scarcity in Nigeria, especially during festive periods when demand surges. By ramping up supply from 40–45 million litres per day (current output) to 50 million litres and beyond, the refinery aims to stabilize supply nationwide and reduce dependence on imports.

Dangote’s plan also includes collaborating with petroleum marketers to strengthen distribution networks across all regions, ensuring that the promised volumes reach consumers effectively.

With these commitments, Dangote aims not simply to supply more PMS but to revamp Nigeria’s downstream sector — ensuring consistent, domestically-produced fuel supply nationwide and reducing the long‑standing dependence on imported petrol.
